Having logged 70 hours as pilot-in-command (aeroplanes), a PPL holder may have a Multi-Engine Piston (MEP) rating added to their licence following the completion of specific training.
This training will cover normal condition operations, as well as engine failure procedures and asymmetric flight techniques.
The MEP course requirements are a minimum of 7 hours theoretical instruction and 6 hours flight training, culminating in a multiple choice theoretical knowledge examination and a flight test. The training comprises:
- 6 hours minimum of dual instruction in the Seneca
- 1 hour minimum for the skill test in the Seneca
