Capt. Colin Dobney, Head of Training - colindobney@flysfc.com


Captain Colin Dobney is a former Stapleford student who progressed as an instructor and then onto the air-charter side of the business. He left to fulfil his ambition to fly for an airline, firstly for Sabre Airways on B737-200 then onto Ryanair as a First Officer and then a Captain.

In 2000 he returned to Stapleford to take up the post as Head of Training. With approximately 10,000 hours - of which over 5,000 are flying Boeing 737 aircraft, on which he is still current, his flying activity at Stapleford is mostly in an examining capacity for commercial students and IR renewals.

Annabel Winter, CPL CFI


Annabel learned to fly at Biggin Hill and progressed through IMC, Night, PPL/IR to become an instructor at Biggin Hill and then moved to Stapleford to become Deputy CFI for PPL's'. She left to fly Shorts 360 for Air Ecosse then moved to the BAC-1-11 for British Island Airways at Gatwick.

From there she moved to Monarch Airlines at Gatwick to fly the 737-400/500 series and then on to the Boeing 757/767, operating long haul and short haul around the world.

Flying at Stapleford consists of both training and examining for commercial students and IR Renewals. Annabel is also authorised by the Civil Aviation Authority to conduct CPL Skills Tests for CPL students training to become commercial pilots.

Annabel has over 10,000 total hours flying experience of which over 5,000 hours are as an instructor.

Lisa is your first point of contact with Stapleford Flight Centre and she will be able to give you any information and answer any questions regarding your commercial training requirements. A large part of Lisa's role is ensuring that all students get the most out of their time here, and the very best from their training at Stapleford.

On any intensive course, such as the CPL/IR, students sometimes need help and advice from a friendly face. Lisa's role is to help the student deal with any such problems before they become a real problem.

Eric Thurston, IR CSI
Eric has been instructing the Instrument Rating for 40 years with over 25,000 hours experience. Eric runs our IR ground course, is the author of our course notes and is our Chief Simulator Instructor. Eric has amassed some 12,000 hours as a simulator instructor. Eric Thurston, IR CSI
Alan Turner, PPL Chief Flying Instructor

Alan has been at Stapleford for over 15 years and has over 8,000 hours flying experience.

Alan is our Chief Flying Instructor for PPL students and conducts our PPL Ground School courses.

Alan also teaches Multi Engine Ratings and is a PPL Examiner.

Keith Pogmore, CFI of Flying Instructor Course
Keith has been flying since 1967 and has logged over 6,500 hours in light aircraft. He is a Flight Instructor Examiner and is also responsible for the Aerobatic and Tailwheel schools.

Tony Glover, FIC Instructor
Tony is a CAA-authorised FIC Instructor. He has 18 years flying experience that includes formation, display and aerobatics with over 2000 instructional hours. Tony Glover, FIC Instructor
Steve Earey, IR Instructor
Steve has been instructing for Stapleford for 20 years amassing 5000 hours total time of which 3000 hours were whilst instrument rating training and 1500 hours during twin instruction. Steve Earey, IR Instructor
Brian Peppercorn, CPL and IR instructor
